The Roadshow
A Ride with Confidence Skills Day
A practical, relaxed day designed to build your confidence on and off the bike, whether you’ve just passed your test, are returning to riding, or simply want to feel more in control.
Who it’s for
Wherever you are on your riding journey
Just passed
Turn your new licence into real-world confidence, with time to practise the skills the test only touched on.
Returning riders
Back on two wheels after a break? Shake off the rust in a supportive setting before you head back out on the road.
Want more control
Experienced but nervous at walking pace, in car parks or with a heavy bike? This day is built around exactly that.
Why attend
What you get from the day
Tackle the worries head-on
Slow manoeuvres, dropping the bike, not knowing what you’re looking at: we deal with the things that really knock riders’ confidence.
Hands-on, not lecture-based
Most of the day is spent around and on the bikes, practising techniques you can repeat on your own afterwards.
Expert, friendly coaching
Led by experienced motorcycle instructors who coach at your pace. No question is too basic and there’s no test at the end.
Limited places, real attention
Each event is capped at 30 riders, so everyone gets proper practice time and individual feedback.
A safe place to practise
Work on slow control and bike recovery in a controlled, off-road environment, away from traffic and onlookers.
Confidence that lasts
You’ll leave with a clear understanding of your bike and the mindset tools to keep improving every time you ride.
The course
Four sessions, one confident rider
The day moves from mindset, through understanding and handling your bike, into hands-on riding.
Mindset
Confidence starts in your head
Confidence on a motorcycle is as much about attitude as ability. This session looks at what holds riders back and how to overcome it.
- Understanding nerves and why they happen
- Spotting and breaking negative habits, like target fixation or tensing up
- Building a calm, focused approach before and during every ride
- Setting realistic personal goals so you can see your progress
- Turning “I hope I don’t…” into “I know how to…”
Know Your Bike
Understand what you’re looking at
You can ride your bike, but do you know what you’re looking at when you walk round it? This relaxed, hands-on session makes your motorcycle feel more familiar. You don’t need any mechanical knowledge or tools, and no question is too basic.
- The main parts of a motorcycle and what each one does
- The everyday checks every rider should know, using POWDERS (Petrol, Oil, Water, Damage, Electrics, Rubber, Security)
- What you’re actually looking for when you check tyres, chain, brakes, fluids and lights
- Plain-English explanations of terms like chain slack, coolant, tyre wear and brake fluid
- Early warning signs that something might need attention
- What you can safely check yourself, and when to ask your dealer or mechanic
- Getting to know your controls, switchgear, dash lights and any rider aids such as ABS or riding modes
Handle It & Pick It Up
Set-up, balance and bike drop recovery
The better you know your machine, the more you’ll trust it. This session builds familiarity and removes the fear of the unexpected.
- How your bike’s weight, balance and controls work for you
- Setting up the bike to suit you, from levers to mirrors and riding position
- Bike drop and recovery: what to do if the bike goes over, and safe, proven techniques to lift it without strain
- Pushing and manoeuvring the bike with confidence, off the bike as well as on it
Slow Skills
Master control at low speed
Most drops happen at walking pace, not at speed. Mastering slow riding is the quickest way to feel in control in car parks, junctions and traffic.
- Clutch, throttle and rear brake control working together
- Head and eye position: look where you want to go
- Tight U-turns and full-lock turns
- Slow-speed riding and figure-of-eights
- Smooth stopping and pulling away, including on slopes
What you’ll leave with
A better understanding of your bike, practical skills for the situations that worry riders most, and the confidence to enjoy every ride.
